Sales Techniques to Prevent the Canceled Sale

Have you ever had a prospect tell you they want to buy, and then they changed their mind? Have you ever had a prospect buy almost immediately and then they backed out of the deal, wanted a refund, or wanted to cancel their premium? You were left wondering how that could happen when they seemed so excited and on board. Every beginner and many seasoned professionals experience this but they don’t understand why it happens. There is a very logical reason this happens.

Buyers are highly emotional in their decision making process. Somehow you’ve gotten their attention or entered their radar, and they’re all excited about buying. And you get all excited because this probably doesn’t happen just all that often to you, and you’re thinking this is going to be one of the easiest sales you’ve ever made.

Yet it all falls apart. You fell into a deadly sales trap and you didn’t even realize it. You fell into the trap of thinking the reason they told you they wanted to buy was the real reason or an important reason to them. But these buyers aren’t really clear about their need or what they want even though they seem to be. They get caught up in an idea and think they want to buy, but then they start thinking about it and they realize that they really don’t need what your offering or they really don’t want what they thought they wanted. They seem to do an abrupt 360 in their thinking and you’re left holding the bag.

There is a way to circumvent and avoid this. You need to help the prospect to clearly understand that there is a need and that the need is important. The prospect needs to gain clarity in their own mind about what they want to do, why that’s important, and why it’s important to take action now.

Help the prospect through this thought process by asking good questions. Get the over eager buyer to take a step back to help you understand why they need what you have. If you dont’, you’ll have the sale fall through because their won’t be a strong motivation to complete the purchase process.

Through your gentle probing questions you’re helping the prospect to build their own case for purchase. Now the great thing about that is people hate to be wrong, so if they wanted to back away from the sale later they’d have to disagree with their own argument and that’s highly unlikely. Through this sales discussion both you and the prospect have the same information at the same time, and when that happens you reach the same conclusion and that means a sale for you if you’re a match.

The iPhone Battery: How Good Is It?

Posted in Internet Marketing by David Smith @ Nov 29, 2007

Apple Ipod’s have become almost ubiquitous of MP3 players, and perhaps the new iPhone smartphone from Apple can become the new standard of smartphone’s everywhere.

The phone’s touch system is of course it’s most remarkable attribute. The commercials are everywhere and it seems that public consciousness has been altered by the stunning feature set of the phone. The iPhone is basically a smartphone with all kinds of multimedia capabilities. It plays Mp3’s, podcasts, videos, connects to the internet and does it all wirelessly. It offers two levels of storage, 4 gigabytes and 8 gigabytes, giving the user plenty of storage for all these multimedia capabilities. The phone is powered by a proprietary Apple battery.

Apple advertises very progressive battery life estimates. With up to 250 hours of standby time, and up to 8 hours of talk time. Even playing music, MP3’s, podcasts gives up to 24 hours of play time. And you can get up to 7 hours while playing videos.

The iPhone battery stands head and shoulders above it’s closer competitors. The iPhone battery is very impressive especially compared with what it’s competitors are able to deliver, it beats Nokia’s N95 easily, as the Nokia N95’s talk time life lasts four hours. The Samsung Blackjack has a talktime rating of 5.5 hours, the Blackberry Curve 8300 and the Palm Treo 750 both have a 4 hour talktime rating, and are completely outperformed by the Apple iPhone.

The iPhone battery is truly impressive.

There is one drawback however. Even with Apple’s impressive iPhone Battery Life, the battery is internal and not removable.

Because there are no removable batteries, when you travel with an iPhone you should always bring a travel charger. Most smartphone models can have their battery easily replaced if the phone becomes discharged, while the iPhone must be charged immediately in order to use the phone. Most smartphone users, using “the usual” smartphones, purchase extra batteries for those in case of emergency situations. With the iPhone battery, this isn’t possible.

The other issue with the iPhone battery is that because of the nature of all batteries, they need replacing every few years. If that happens with an iPhone, you have to bring it to your local iStore, or iPhone shop to have it replaced by a technician.

The iPhone is a very capable phone that won’t be hampered by insufficient battery life. We think you’ll be well pleased with it.

Who would want to work for someone else if they could run their own business? Not very many. All it takes to have a successful business is one good idea. Yes, that’s it; one good idea, properly executed, and you can be your own boss. Everyone can think of an idea, and we all certainly do. So, what stops us from realizing these ideas - from translating them into successful small businesses? If we examine closely, we will get to the root cause. It isthe daunting task of small business marketing.

No matter what venture you start, you will need to attract clients. They need to know that your product or service exists to meet their needs. They also need to know how what you are selling differentiates itself from competitors in the market. You also need to let them know about promotions and coupons that are available.

The phrase small business marketing encompasses all of these activities. Marketing demands knowing the essence of your product or service and identifying your customer base. Next, customer behavior and preferences need to be identified. The results combined knowing your competitors should form the basis of the strategy of your small business marketing.

After you have developed a strategy for marketing, you need to think of ways of reaching your target market. New small businesses are usually cash strapped and often can’t go for expensive media like television commercials, radio advertising, newspaper promotions or billboards. Given these financial constraints, you need to make the most of what is available and affordable. There are many innovative ideas available for both small business online marketing and small business offline marketing.

Let’s start by summarizing the promotional strategies you can use online. An online presence is important, so it’s essential to have a company website, even if you aren’t involved in electronic commerce. A website is a great way to provide information and attract customers.

It also allows you to do such things as search engine marketing, pay per click advertising, email advertising and placing classified ads in online websites such as Craigslist and USFreeads. Creating short instructional videos and placing them on sites like Youtube and Google Video is another way to get free marketing action.

Offline strategies for small business marketing can be as innovative as you can make them! Depending on your local bylaws, you can use banner advertisements posted across shopping malls, theatres, bus stops, metro stations and so on. You can also hire people to do door-to-door marketing or even get some friends to place a sign on the van or truck and drive around town. You can also sponsor events at colleges, clubs and discotheques to attract customers, if this is the age group your are targeting.

Creative thinking knows no bounds. Take the time to brainstorm some ideas for your small business marketing, using some of these ideas and others gleaned from other free internet sources. Then come up with a small business promotional program customized to your unique requirements.

Spyware and How To Guard Against It

Posted in Internet Marketing by Frank Thomas @ Nov 29, 2007

If your computer has ever started acting in strange ways by popping up advertising windows or taking you to places that you never intended to visit then there’s a good chance that your computer has been infected by adware or spyware. If you are experiencing that now there’s probably no way to immediately know whether you have a minor problem or a major problem. What we do know is that you have to deal with the problem quickly.

The term spyware refers to programs of various sorts which are snuck onto your computer by unscrupulous and unethical marketers. Sometimes that’s the best thing that can be said about them. Other times, carried to the extreme, these programs are installed on your computer by people who hope to steal everything that you have. Their game plan is to learn anything and everything about you and their goal is to destroy you financially. You simply must defend your self against spyware if you are going to be using your computer to access the Internet.

To make the spyware problem even worse is to realize that frequently these programs can be on your computer and you have no idea that they are even present. It is a recently revealed fact that nearly 9 out of 10 computers taken in for service or repair contained 10 or more spyware programs on their hard drives. In the majority of cases the spyware programs were present yet the computer owners had no clue that they were there.

The symptoms of spyware hidden on your computer and in operation range from the minor to the major. On the one hand they can be just minor irritations on the other hand they can be very dangerous when they are operating in your computer. You must take active steps to protect yourself from them.

Pop up ads are one of the very irritating manifestations of spyware in your computer. Frequently the spyware will monitor the keyword phrases that you type into a search engine and then when you click enter they will show ads related to the words that you had just entered in the search engine. Sometimes they are separate pop-up ads in separate windows while other times they will mix themselves in amongst the results that the search engine produces for your search terms. In any case they are extremely time wasting and irritating.

Another type of problem related to spyware is that which is referred to as a Trojan. A Trojan is a software program that to one degree or another is capable of taking over control of your computer. It can be used to play a joke on you by a so-called friend so that funny pictures pop up on your monitor at random and your computer does other strange things that surprise you. Trojans can also be used for more serious invasions by people in next door to you or in another country, even taking control of your computer without you realizing it and stealing information from your computer.

In a worst-case situation Trojans and spyware can be easily used to steal your identity. Passwords to your checking account and credit cards suddenly become easily assessable. People that would honestly describe themselves as incapable of doing you physical harm for some reason think it is perfectly okay to steal your money and your identity.

If you do not have some kind of software protection on your computer at the very least you are being very foolish. Yes, it can be an added expense, just like adding a monitor to your computer makes it more functional but costs additional money. In today’s society it is absolutely essential that you have some kind of constant protection on your computer so that you’re not invaded by spyware. Whether you use the free program from Microsoft or you spend the $30-$40 necessary to get heavy duty industrial strength anti-spyware software on your computer it’s most important that you do something and do it quickly. Otherwise, the next new website that you visit may be just the one that infects your computer and starts stealing your money and your identity later this evening. Just do something about the problem now. Protect yourself.
