Traffic: Making Or Breaking Your Site
I get very frustrated with all the products that get released promising to help you make million of Dollars but don’t mention the most important aspect of any site. How to generate traffic.
It really doesn’t matter how good the product is with out traffic and good quality traffic there is no point in building it. “if you build it they will come” doesn’t apply to web sites. The most important thing when starting out is not books on building sites or exotic site building programs it’s learning how to get the traffic to your site.
You can have the best looking site in the world, with the perfect keywords but if you don’t know how to firstly attract the search engine spiders and then real human visitors then the site is going to have no value. Try selling a website and the first thing you will be asked is “What is the Income & what’s the traffic” The income is not particularly important. If I am buying a site I actually want the income to be as low as possible as it will be cheaper for me. Given a choice of a site with an income of $100 a month and 1000 visitors or a site with $10 per month and 2000 Visitors I’ll always go for the visitors.
You will never stop learning how to generate traffic. Spend time working on your own system and launching sites will be much easier. Only yesterday while making a video for my membership site I discovered a new way to get my site into Google in under 18 hours.
This was something new that I hadn’t used before, needless to say I was pretty impressed. I used it on another site 3 hours ago and guess what? It’s now showing in Google. That’s 3 hours from creating an entry to it appearing in Google. I didn’t even know that updated their database that often!
The method I used has not been mentioned in any of the traffic generation products I’ve read. However this is not too surprising as traffic generation is constantly evolving. Google change their algorithms and sites fall out of favor or become favored. It was only a few months ago that Squidoo was the best place to start your link building. Now it’s fallen out of favor.
I constantly monitor Google to see which sites are ranking well. I find an Internet marketing product and search for it in Google’s index. I’ll then take note of what sites are showing links and test them for myself. The reason I choose Internet marketing niches is that Internet marketers are usually at the forefront of any developments in ranking strategies.
By constantly monitoring whats working and what isn’t you’ll soon build up a list of good sites. When it comes to launch a site use these sites to generate traffic and to get your site ranking high for your chosen keywords.
